Senior Business Analyst, Mortgage Origination & Transformation
We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to help deliver a mortgage origination transformation. The focus of the role is process design and documentation: defining how credit, underwriting and back-office mortgage processing will work in the future state, documenting it so the business and the delivery team can build and run from it, and helping the business get ready for go-live. If you have a deep understanding of the mortgage lifecycle and a proven record of optimising underwriting and credit decisioning processes, this role offers the chance to shape the future state of our lending capabilities. You will act as the bridge between operational policy and technical delivery, ensuring new solutions are robust, compliant and ready for market.
Core Responsibilities
-
Process Design and Documentation: Analyse current and future state credit, underwriting and back-office processes, controls and decisioning journeys, and design the future state. Produce clear process maps, workflow specifications and service workflows, and challenge existing structures where doing so improves operational performance.
-
Solution Definition: Define solution scope, functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria for the back-office processing of mortgage origination applications, maintaining requirements traceability as the design evolves.
-
Policy Integration: Interpret credit policy and ensure it is traceably embedded in both the process and the technical design of the solution.
-
Design Validation and Testing Support: Support solution design validation, test preparation and test execution, including test scenarios, requirements validation, gap analysis and user acceptance testing materials.
-
Business Readiness: Prepare the business for transition to the new platform through readiness assessments, operational process documents, training materials and user guidance, stakeholder communications, go-live readiness and handover documentation.
-
Target Operating Model: Contribute to the future operating model, defining how people, process and technology will work together once the solution is live, including roles and responsibilities, governance and the transition roadmap.
Your Expertise
-
Subject Matter Expert: Extensive experience as a Business Analyst within the mortgage sector, specifically delivering mortgage origination transformations.
-
Process and Documentation: A strong record of producing process maps, workflow specifications, functional requirements and operational documentation that business and technical teams can build and run from.
-
Underwriting Knowledge: Highly desirable experience working directly with underwriting and credit decisioning workflows.
-
Business Readiness: Experience preparing an operation for go-live, from readiness assessments and training materials through to handover.
-
Delivery Partner Collaboration: Comfortable working alongside a technology implementation partner, setting out clearly what inputs your design and readiness work needs, and following up so it is prepared on complete information.
-
Clarity on Decisions and Scope: Disciplined at recording decisions, assumptions, open items and deferred scope, so everyone knows what is agreed and what is coming later.
-
Commercial Agility: Demonstrated success driving delivery in fast-paced, private-sector financial services or lending environments, and comfortable in dynamic settings that require rapid adaptation and execution.
-
Stakeholder Management: Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical and process changes to both operational teams and technical developers.
-
Platform Delivery (desirable): Experience of implementing a digital origination, workflow or decisioning platform integrated with core banking.
The Engagement
Six month rolling day rate contract, start date to be confirmed. Remote working from your own premises, with occasional travel to the client office expected around once a fortnight for key workshops and stakeholder sessions, agreed in advance.
You are engaged to deliver agreed outputs in line with programme milestones, and you decide the approach, methods and sequencing that get you there.
