Project Manager – AI & Energy Technology

$170,000 - $180,000

You’ve managed projects in upstream oil and gas. You know how to navigate technical complexity, work with operations teams and site engineers, and deliver in high-stakes environments where every decision matters.

A fast-growing technology company is building AI systems for refineries, upstream assets, and industrial facilities globally. They’re already delivering with major energy clients and need someone who understands upstream operations to scale their deployments.

This isn’t about learning to code. Your project management expertise in energy is what matters. The opportunity here is being early to where AI and energy intersect – while the technology is still being shaped by operational reality, not Silicon Valley assumptions.  That said you will be an advocate for AI and willing to challenge the traditions in the energy sector augmenting AI with existing professionals in the space.

The role:

Own customer deployments end-to-end: scoping with clients, coordinating between their operations teams and your technical resources, managing timelines and expectations, surfacing problems early, and driving solutions when things get complicated.

You’ll work directly with site engineers and operations folks at customer facilities, translate their needs into executable plans, and keep everyone aligned as deployments progress. Less status reporting, more hands-on problem-solving.

As the company scales, you’ll help build the delivery frameworks that make future deployments repeatable. Genuine build-it-as-you-go territory where your input shapes how things work.

 Your background:

4+ years managing technical projects in upstream oil and gas, ideally customer-facing or cross-functional. You’ve delivered complex projects where operations, technical teams, and commercial interests had to align.

Comfortable working with site engineers and technical stakeholders – you can follow technical discussions, understand constraints, and translate complexity into clear language for different audiences.

Strong organisational skills, clear communication, and the ability to thrive in ambiguity. Early-stage companies don’t have perfect processes. Things change. You see opportunity in that, not chaos.

Nice to Have

Exposure to data systems, automation projects, or digital initiatives in energy. International or multi-site deployment experience. Any familiarity with how technology projects get deployed in industrial settings helps, but they’re not expecting AI expertise.

Why This Matters

AI in energy is happening now, and being early while it’s still being figured out puts you in a valuable position. Tech companies at this stage move fast, reward ownership, and offer equity upside that traditional energy roles don’t.

Your upstream knowledge – understanding what actually works on-site, how energy companies make decisions – that’s the bridge this role needs. The learning curve is real, but so is the opportunity.

If you’re keen to remain relevant for the decades to come and curious about learning more about AI Technologies  where your energy expertise are valued then we should talk.
