Salesforce DevOps Engineer

99% Remote – Occasional travel to St Albans

We are a Tech for good organisation making a difference to societies across the UK, we operate a wide and varied Tech enabled environment which underpins our ability to deliver. We are seeking an experienced Salesforce DevOps Engineer to work closely with the wider Technologies teams to design and deliver Devops solutions into our Salesforce environment.

This is a great opportunity to build a case study for your resume, as you will be the first boots on the ground in the DevOps function, working closely with Salesforce partners and the internal Salesforce team you will be responsible for the design and deployment of the DevOps function.

At this stage it’s a Fixed Term contract set to run to the end of 2025, in line with existing programme budgets, however it is expected work will continue beyond this point on a permanent basis.

About the Role:

As the DevOps Lead, you will be instrumental in defining and implementing the DevOps strategy across Salesforce and other integrated components. You will be responsible for establishing the necessary environments, workflows, tools, and release pipelines to support the successful delivery of a range of projects. This role requires strong collaboration with various stakeholders, including Salesforce, other suppliers, and the internal IT team. In addition to your technical skills, strong communication skills will be vital to ensure you bring the business with you on your vision for the function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish, deliver, and integrate the DevOps plan and solution, encompassing practices, procedures, systems, and instruments.
  • Orchestrate automation and immutability within DevOps workflows.
  • Ensure the successful transition of the DevOps solution to Business as Usual (BAU).
  • Guarantee the application of IT standards, policies, and governance for DevOps.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to harmonise DevOps processes with program and IT operational objectives.
  • Identify, choose, and incorporate suitable DevOps tools.
  • Assure the implementation of appropriate configuration management and version control.
  • Document processes, guidelines, and recommended practices.
  • Facilitate effective communication among development, operations, and quality assurance teams.
  • Drive ongoing enhancement in deployment and testing procedures.
  • Monitor and enhance the performance of the DevOps solution and tools.
  • Embed the DevOps solution through education, teamwork, and guidance.
  • Oversee and direct remediation activities.
  • Work in conjunction with Salesforce to verify their contribution and execution of the DevOps solution.
  • Incorporate legacy elements into the DevOps solution.
  • Supply the DevOps solution to support development, testing, and release strategies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve configuration and environment-related problems.
  • Maintain adherence to security, governance, and quality regulations.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrable history of upholding best-practice standards.
  • Extensive DevOps experience with Salesforce at an enterprise level.
  • Proficient in managing multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and environment administration.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Practical experience with relevant DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proven track record in a hybrid PaaS and legacy environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of environment, release, and testing methodologies.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and frameworks.
  • Experience in conducting workshops or training sessions.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Salesforce DevOps, AWS DevOps Engineer).
  • Awareness of healthcare sector compliance and regulatory requirements.
