Technology recruitment in London, New York and San Francisco
We hire engineering, AI, product, data, go-to-market, cybersecurity and leadership talent for high-growth tech teams, and we share the risk on every one of them. London, New York and San Francisco are where our networks run deepest, and London is home.
They are not a boundary, though. We are people first, so our work follows the individuals we know wherever their careers take them. Risk-shared recruitment applies the same way everywhere: pay as they stay, or when you raise.

Our home markets
The three we know best. Each has its own page with the roles we fill there, the kind of companies we work with, and the local detail that actually matters.
London
Where most of our thirteen years sits. Deep bench across engineering, AI and product for venture-backed and scaling teams, plus the enterprise names that keep coming back.
New York
Fintech, AI and enterprise SaaS. The easiest market to run alongside a London hire, because the working day overlaps for most of the afternoon.
San Francisco
AI and ML, infrastructure and founding engineers. The most competitive market we work in, and the one where a deferred fee tends to matter most.
Hiring across more than one of them
This is the part most agencies handle badly, and it’s the main reason clients come to us for a second market rather than starting again with someone local.
Opening a UK office
US companies planting a flag in London, usually starting with a first engineering hire or a country lead. You get people who have done it before rather than a market you have to explain from scratch.
Crossing the Atlantic
UK companies hiring their first person in New York or San Francisco. Salary expectations, equity norms and notice periods all work differently, and getting that wrong on hire number one is expensive.
How we cover the hours
We are honest about this because it is the question that decides whether the arrangement works: our search and client work runs out of London, and our delivery hubs mean sourcing carries on well outside UK hours.
London
Search, client work and the UK market.
Manila
Sourcing that runs while the UK sleeps.
Cape Town
Overlapping UK hours, extending the working day.
The practical effect is that a role in another time zone does not sit still overnight. That’s how a 23-day average time to hire survives a five to eight hour difference.
We follow the people, not the postcode
We are a people-first firm. We build relationships with individuals rather than with logos, and individuals move: to a new company, a new country, a new market. When they do, we tend to go with them. In recent years that has meant working on roles in Singapore and Denmark in the same week.
So the honest answer on geography is that London, New York and San Francisco are where our networks run deepest, and our affinity for them keeps growing, but they have never been a limit on where we work. If your hire sits somewhere else, that is a conversation worth having rather than a door closing.
The practical side is usually already solved. Through our employer of record partners we can get someone onto a compliant contract in more than 140 countries, so you do not need your own entity in a country to hire someone in it.
The commercial terms travel with us
Risk-shared recruitment is not a London-only arrangement. Whichever market you are hiring in, it is one flat fee of 20% of salary and a free 90-day replacement. What changes is when you pay, not how much.
Pay While They Stay™
The fee spreads across the hire’s tenure. If they leave early, the remaining payments stop.
Aligned™
Up to 75% of the fee defers to your next raise, set by your Aligned score. Hire now, pay when you raise.
Common questions
Where does Hurren & Hope recruit?
We recruit technology talent globally. London, New York and San Francisco are our home markets and where our networks run deepest, with London as our base. Because we are people first, our work follows the individuals we know as their careers move, which in recent years has included roles in Singapore and Denmark in the same week. Through employer of record partners we can employ people in more than 140 countries.
Do you recruit outside London, New York and San Francisco?
Yes. Those three are where most of our work sits and where we are strongest, but they have never been a limit. We work wherever the people we know end up, and we can put someone on a compliant contract in more than 140 countries through our employer of record partners. If you are hiring somewhere else, ask us.
Can you hire in the US and the UK at the same time?
Yes, and it is one of the more common reasons clients come to us. The same team runs both sides, so you get one shortlist standard and one set of commercial terms rather than two agencies to manage.
Do you have offices in New York and San Francisco?
No. We are a London-headquartered firm with delivery hubs in London, Manila and Cape Town, and we recruit into the New York and San Francisco markets from there. We would rather be straight about that than claim a local office we do not have.
How do you cover other time zones from the UK?
Our delivery hubs in Manila and Cape Town mean sourcing continues well outside UK working hours, so a role in another time zone keeps moving overnight rather than pausing until London wakes up.
Is risk-shared recruitment available in every market you cover?
Yes. Both Aligned and Pay While They Stay apply wherever we are hiring for you, on the same flat 20% fee with a free 90-day replacement.
Which roles do you recruit for in each city?
Engineering, AI and machine learning, product, data and analytics, go-to-market, cybersecurity, and leadership and C-suite. The individual city pages set out where we are strongest in each market.
Tell us where and what, and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right firm for it.
