Backend Engineer – Python, Data Pipelines, LLM – London / Hybrid – £100,000 to £150,000 + Benefits – REF JB-24
We have a new opportunity for a Backend Engineer to join an AI start-up who are building a new generation of knowledge discovery tools. You will be joining a team of researchers and Engineers who come from companies like Google, Meta and Microsoft. As one of the Founding Engineers, you will be responsible for helping them develop and deploy efficient and powerful search and retrieval systems while working with machine learning and LLMs.
As the Backend Engineer you will be responsible for Implementing and optimising the powerful search and cutting-edge neural retrieval systems, focusing on scalability, performance and accuracy. You will assist with cloud orchestration and infrastructure. The backend Engineer will also be responsible for data curation which includes managing large-scale data ingestion and indexing pipelines.
Skills, knowledge and experience required:
- Strong background in building backend solutions with Python in cloud environments (AWS, Azure or GCP)
- Demonstrable track record of working on large scale information retrieval systems / Search Engines
- Previous experience of working in start-up / scale-up environments and enjoy the journey that comes with this
- Prior experience or a real interest in LLMs is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate will be a 10x engineer who started out in a big tech company and then moved into a start-up / scale-up environment.
