Senior Platform Engineer – AWS, Kafka, GraphQL, Event-Driven, Distributed systems – Remote (UK Hours) – £90,000 to £100,000 – Ref: JB151

We are currently on the hunt for a Senior platform Engineer to join a growing B2B SaaS scale-up. The primary focus of this role is to help evolve and scale their platform as the company continues to grow. You will drive improvements to their observability stack, Kafka, authentication services, search platform, and overall system performance.

This role leans more toward the development side of DevOps where you will work across multiple domains, from distributed systems and data pipelines to developer tooling. A big part of the role focusing on non-functional requirements such as performance, security, usability, reliability, and scalability. While continuously looking for ways to make the platform enjoyable and efficient for developers to build on.

Skills, knowledge and Experience required

• Backend Engineering Experience: Extensive backend expertise; Ruby on Rails is preferred but other technologies like C#, Node.js, Python and Java will be considered (polyglots very welcome)
• Cloud & Data Technologies: Deep experience with AWS, Kafka, and GraphQL
• Scalability & Performance: Proven track record of scaling systems, improving performance, and running mission-critical services in production
• Observability Expertise: Strong proficiency in observability practices and tooling, including metrics, logs, and tracing
• Distributed Systems Knowledge: Solid understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architecture

They are currently building out a better Search platform so experience of indexing and query strategies to support fast, accurate search at scale would be a real plus.

This is a fully remote permanent role (not a B2B contract), working UK Hours 09:00 to 18:00 with 1 hour for lunch.
